My name is Wesley Van Kempen, I was born in the year 1999 in the coastal town of Wollongong, Australia. Wollongong was my home for 18 years, a place that moulded me into the person I am today. Throughout my early life I was heavily into sports, representing NSW for cricket and playing NPS level soccer at a junior level. It wasn't until late into my high school career at Edmund Rice College, where began my interest in the field of Physics and Astronomy.
After my high schooling studies, I moved permanently to Melbourne Victoria, where in 2018 I began a Bachelor of Science - Physics, at Swinburne University of Technology. Since then, I have been working hard to gain my degree and lay a well structured foundation for further studies in the field.
My degree is set to complete midway through 2021, where I have already been accepted for an Honours position at Swinburne University of Technology. After the completion of the Honours course, I aim to continue studying and strive for a Ph.D. in Astrophysics. Once I have gained my Ph.D. I would like to do further research in either Cosmology or Star Populations.
Feel free to fill out the form below if you have any further queries, questions or just want to express your interest in astronomy, or you can check out my LinkedIn profile as well.
Thank you!
